This dancing cat, whirling in a voluptuous, geisha costume, was painted by Utagawa Kuniyoshi, a reknowned Ukiyo-e woodblock artist of the 19th century Japan. To get around a censorship code banning representations of kabuki actors and geishas, Kuniyoshi would often illustrate famous kabuki actors in an animal form. Finish: solid brass, electro-plated with non-tarnishing silver, giclee print. Packaged Recycled PETE Plastic Sleeve with Provenance Card
